Frequently asked
Which doctor should I see for a thyroid problem in Delhi?
Most thyroid conditions — hypothyroidism, mild hyperthyroidism, post-pregnancy thyroid changes, and thyroid screening — are managed well by a general physician. Endocrinology referral is reserved for complex cases like Graves' disease or thyroid nodules requiring intervention.
What tests do I need for a thyroid check?
A TSH is the first test. Depending on the result we may add Free T4, Free T3, and anti-TPO antibodies. Ultrasound is added only when a nodule or goitre is felt.
Can hypothyroidism be cured?
Hypothyroidism is usually managed long-term with a small daily dose of thyroxine. Some post-viral and post-partum cases recover on their own; others need lifelong replacement with periodic dose adjustment.
How often should thyroid levels be checked?
Once stable, an annual TSH is enough. After any dose change, we re-test in 6–8 weeks.
