·Persistent vomiting or inability to keep fluids down
·Jaundice (yellow eyes/skin)
This is general guidance, not a diagnosis. If you have any of the above, book a same-day consult or seek urgent care.
Common causes a physician will look for
·Acidity, gastritis, and H. pylori infection
·Irritable bowel syndrome
·Gallstones — typical right-upper pain after fatty meals
·Lactose intolerance or food sensitivities
·Less common but important: peptic ulcer, IBD, pancreatitis
What to expect at the consult
Detailed history, examination, and a focused work-up: CBC, LFT, lipase, H. pylori testing, ultrasound abdomen where indicated. Endoscopy only when symptoms or red flags justify it.
Frequently asked
Do I need an endoscopy for stomach pain?
Not usually as a first step. Endoscopy is indicated for alarm features (weight loss, anaemia, age >50 with new symptoms, persistent vomiting), or when initial treatment fails.
